Next Pediatric Conference Slated for Machias

With help from generous grant funding, LifeFlight is presenting a series of one-day conferences across the state called Pediatric Patients on the Edge. Through state-of-the-art simulation, rural EMS and emergency medicine providers will have an opportunity to practice rarely-used but critical pediatric skills in a safe, hands-on environment. The next training is planned for April 10 in Machias.

A Mother’s Gratitude

I held my little boy and rocked him back and forth, thinking I could make him feel better. After all, I am his mother. When the two of you walked in and looked me in the eye, and told me everything would be fine, I trusted you both immediately. Thank you all so much for what you do, not only for my son, but for everybody in the state of Maine.

Two boys, two helicopters, two happy endings

Kody Scott and Devon Maxwell have been friends for as long as they can remember. They were walking to the local teen center one evening when a car came around a sharp bend in the road and struck them both. The force of the impact sent Kody and Devon flying several feet off the road.

Family Support for LifeFlight

Eleven-year-old Talon Harwood was LifeFlighted to Maine Medical Center in Portland in 2006. Although he later passed away, his parents, Julian and Betsy Harwood of Manchester, continue to be grateful to the people who cared for Talon during that difficult time. This summer, the Harwoods and several of their family members held a benefit motorcycle ride that raised more than $7,000 for LifeFlight.

Maine Remote Emergency Access Project

In an effort to improve response time for scene calls involving remote snowmobile, ATV and recreational accidents, LifeFlight has teamed up with state and local agencies and clubs to establish landing zones along Maine’s extensive recreational trail system.

Lifeflight Community

AJ Higgins from MPBN talked to Chris Hamilton, LifeFlight's Development Director and Tom Judge, LifeFlight's Executive Director, about a new bond proposal for aviation infrastructure. The proposal, which is currently being considered by the legislature, would provide funding for three additional AWOS (weather stations) and several more helipads across the state.
